| THE
ALAMODOME
Since
its opening in May 1993, the Alamodome has become one of the most
sought after venues in the Lone Star State for major sporting events,
concerts, conventions, trade shows and assemblies. It hosts an average
of 110 events per year, and in 1998 was the third-highest grossing
venue in North America - sixth highest in the world.
The Alamodome is a city-owned and operated multi-purpose facility
conveniently located near the heart of downtown San Antonio. It
is South Texas' ultimate sports and entertainment venue.
The Alamodome is classified as a third generation domed-stadium
because of its unique cable supported roof. This revolutionary engineering
concept results in a facility with column free sight lines. While
it features a state-of-the-art design, perhaps the Alamodome's greatest
asset is its flexibility. It can easily accommodate full stadium
events such as football, trade shows, and large concerts, but with
the use of a curtained wall system, the facility can be transformed
into smaller, more intimate configurations. For trade shows and
conferences, the Alamodome offers 160,000 square feet of continuous
exhibit space as well as more than 30,000 of meeting-room space.
